THOUGHTS


When the rest of the world was still in dark ages, the focus of the sub continent began to shift from conquering the world to gaining control over the mind. A person comprises of both the body and mind. Most people experience themselves as a “body”. Feed the body, clothe the body, and give the body stuff-money, power, possession, physical stimulation and satisfaction. However the “mind” is more relevant. The mind is the greatest creative tool you ever had. Reading, writing, teaching, learning new things is a way to honour the mind. Most of us do not use even one-tenth the capacity of our mind. We can change our perspective of life itself if we utilize the wonders and powers of our mind.

Our thoughts are an essential part of our mind. All our actions are preceded by our thoughts. It is said that we have 12,000 to 60,000 thoughts per day. 98% of them are exactly the same as yesterday’s thoughts and unfortunately 80% of them are negative.

Thoughts are formed just like habits-with constant practice. Psychologists say that it takes 21 days of constant practice to form a habit; similarly it is possible to create new thought processes- turn negative thoughts to positive ones. The scripture says “whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy think about such things. Phil 4:8.what you allow into your mind will determine your reality and ultimately your legacy.

Our minds are powerful and our thoughts shape who we are and will become. Dr. Caroline Leaf says this in her book “Switch on your Brain”, “as we think, we change the physical nature of our brain. As we consciously direct our thinking, we can wire out toxic pattern of thinking and replace them with healthy thoughts.Changing the way you think changes how you act in the world. Do not copy the behavior and customs of the world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.
